As a huge Football fan..(soccer),Tuesdays and Thursdays were training nights. So because of this,I could never play for any teams. The problem was I was considered to be 'quite a talent'...so I was preventing from doing the very thing I was only ever good at.You try telling your school master that you wont be able to train/play as you have to attend a bible meeting....(still remember that look of bemusement!!) When I eventually saw things for what they were, I 'made up for lost time'. I managed to play for some good teams, and even managed to earn a few quid. I couldnt contemplate dragging my children out on these evenings now, to make them sit motionless and silent for all that time.

congregational cliques
by chuckyy init was my experience during my 13 yrs as a jw that congregations usually had a social clique.
in other words, there would be a group of people in a congregation that would only associate (and sometimes only go out on field service too) with people within that social clique.
if you were in the clique, fine.

Ooooh, nice subject.
We have ours collected every Monday. But the blinking effort you have to make to seperate cardboard from plastics, etc, it's the last thing I want to be doing on a sunday evening. I live near the sea, so we have a lot of seagulls. You should see the mess they make. They tear into plastic bin bags like no tomorrow, the crap is sprawled right down the street untill it gets windy, then it congregates in a corner somewhere, and festers for weeks....!!!

Congregation cliques! and I thought it was just my imagination. It's funny how each one would give you a chance to be part of theirs. If you didnt join in the conversation about so and so....you'd failed your initiation. I must have seemed such an odd-bod at my cong, I couldnt stand that 'He said, she said thing'

Do Jehovah's Witnesses keep records on people?
by inquirer ini have known some people (i dont' know if it's true or not) [and i am the kind of person that doesn't like to cause trouble] who have said that jehovah's witnesses keep tabs/records on people.
all the things they have done like if they got babtized, personal problems/experiences, arguments they may had with people, and just their general conduct as well.
have any people here found out about a "black book" where they keep records on you?

Good day Inquirer...hope you find things on this site helpful, and interesting.
You try asking if you can see the File they have on you...''It's confidential''....yes, but the information you have is about ME...is it accurate?....''To the best of our knowledge''............I mean what the hell are they deciding to put on peoples file. If they hear a rumour...does that rumour go on file!!??
The more I see and hear, it is so obvious that this autocratic organisation is no better than any other business that has is in existance.
just an addition to some 'excitable' Elders. Before my wife and I got married,(she was Baptized, I wasnt), one elder made a point of calling around one evening. The topic was Oral sex!! What she thought of it, did she (and us) practice it!! So gawd only knows what is on her file...'slurp!'

It's only funny because of Google's suggestion...
by Xander intake a look at the query run.
then take a look at google's "did you mean..." suggestion.
you'll need to copy and paste this, linking doesn't work for some reason.

A lot of all the history topics are very complicated, so the JW's that know that stuff well, have a tendancy to bombard those less educated or academicaly able with all the calculations, and the 'so that means that' implications. I couldnt see it myself for years, but just nodded. I had a study for ages to learn the Daniel prophecy stuff. I got to know it off by heart, but it really meant nothing to me. To others though, they were so pleased that I now understood it their way. Today I couldnt explain any of it to you. The point is, they will insist that they have the 'Troof' because of these things, but they only arrive at their conclusions in a way that fits their teachings...There will always be an answer for something, you will never 'prove' them wrong in anything. Just be determined, but not disruptive, and 'ALWAYS' trust your gut instinct.
